A FEW WORDS ON WINE...as promised....
Sauvignon Blanc by any other name is...Pouiily-Fume, Fume Blanc, Sancerre....I confess that the sauvignon blancs from the Loire Valley, especially Sancerre, are my favorites of this lovely wine. Its mineral and citrus notes pair well with the food of the region, such as chèvre (goat cheese), and light fare, such as chicken, salads and fish. Mediterranean foods go well with this acidic wine and it's a great (chilled) summer wine.
I find sauvignon blancs to be plentiful and reasonably priced, although Sancerre can push the wallet. Suggestion! I just tried Barboursville's Sauvignon Blanc - produced and bottled right here in Virginia at one of my favorite wineries. It was very flavorful with rich flavors on my palette and reasonably priced at around $13. I found it at the VA ABC Store, believe it or not, but I would always recommend the trip down Route 15 to the winery near Orange, VA. (Bargain choice for Sauvignon Blanc: Costco's Kirkland brand). This is all my opinion, of course, and based on my palette.
